What is Velrae Method?
Eating well looks different for everyone. Some of us watch sodium. Some watch sugar. Some are managing a diagnosis. Some are training for something. Some just want to feel a little better most days.
Velrae Method reads every label through the lens of your body — not a generic “healthy” that doesn’t really exist.
What it actually does
Open the app. Scan a food or personal-care label with your camera, paste a recipe, or describe a restaurant dish in plain English. In about five seconds you get:
- A letter grade A–F and a 0–100 number, personalized to you
- The three or four ingredients in that food that matter most for your body
- Better picks for next time, if a cleaner option exists
- The nutrition per serving, read off the package. Log what you eat and the Day Overview adds up your day against targets you choose — it never changes a grade
- For vitamins & supplements, the facts instead of a grade — doses, forms, and things to watch
- AGo for it.85–100
- BLooks pretty good.70–84
- CSure, occasionally.55–69
- DMaybe skip this one.35–54
- FNot for you.0–34
Your daily diary holds more than food
Velrae keeps those three side by side — blood pressure, weight, blood glucose. You only see the ones you’ve told us apply to you. The rest stay hidden.
That means when your doctor asks “what changed since your last visit?” you’re not guessing. The answer is on your phone, in one visit summary you can hand over.
Who it’s built for
It’s built for anyone who cares about food and wants an answer that fits their body — whether that’s a clean-eating habit, a goal you’re working toward, a parent you shop for, or something a doctor told you to watch.
For people managing a specific condition, Velrae goes deep: 140+ conditions and protocols across 11 plain-English categories.
Every grade gets run through whichever of those apply to you. Full conditions list →
And who it isn’t for. If you want one universal score for every product, that already exists in a dozen free apps — and it will tell you the same thing whether you have a kidney condition or none at all. That is the thing Velrae was built against. It is also not a diagnosis and not a replacement for your doctor: it reads labels against what you told it to watch, so you can walk in with three weeks of evidence instead of a guess.
Being narrow about that is the method, not a limitation — find the person the standard product ignores, then build the thing that serves them specifically. See the rest of the work →
What makes it different
Other food scanners give the same answer to everyone. They grade a yogurt the same way for a 25-year-old with celiac as for an 85-year-old with congestive heart failure. We don’t.
Velrae Method asks who you are first, then reads the label. Two people in the same kitchen, scanning the same package, will get different grades — because they have different bodies.

F 25 · Not for you.
The same carton of organic whole milk, scanned for two people in one house.
Your journal stays on your phone
Your diary, check-ins, numbers, trigger list and profiles live on your device. We don’t keep a copy, and we never sell your data.
Some things do use the internet: looking up a barcode, reading a label photo with Smart Scan, restaurant and menu scans, AI summaries if you turn them on, and looking up an ingredient Velrae doesn’t know yet. Anonymous scan data helps improve Velrae unless you switch it off. An account is optional — it only carries your purchase to another phone. The details are in our privacy policy →
One scanner, many uses
Scan the barcode or photograph the label.
Scan your personal-care products too — shampoo, lotion, sunscreen, makeup — graded for your conditions, not the average person’s. Included.
Paste a recipe and grade the whole dish before you cook.
Type or speak a dish, or snap the menu page, and get a grade for the dish, hidden ingredients and all. (Optional add-on — $9.99/year or $29.99 lifetime; your free trial includes 3 restaurant scans. Details)
Combine multiple ingredients and grade the whole plate.
$29.99 a year, or $59.99 once. No monthly bill. Use it on this device and up to two more.
Try it free for 7 days or 25 scans — full access, no card to start. After that, barcode scans stay free. Then pick what’s right for you: pay every year, or own it for a lifetime.
If we ever add a brand-new major feature that costs real money to run, it may have its own small fee — but we’ll keep it reasonable and never gate what you already paid for. Our full lifetime promise →
